Canada is a developed country with numerous work opportunities. There are jobs everywhere. Some jobs are obtained directly with the employer and others through employment agencies.
About 70% of Canadians work in the service industry that includes shopping malls, restaurants, entertainment, banking, insurance, customer service, call centres etc. Jobs in these industries are so many that employers sometimes post advertisements on shop windows.
Banking
Banking jobs especially at the middle management levels are so many in Canada that new immigrants are able to obtain them within a few months of integration into the Canadian system. Most banks will hire you through an employment agency and within months, they will absorb you into mainstream employment.
Nurses
Canada has a serious shortage of nurses, personal support workers and live-in nursing assistants. New immigrants interested in nursing jobs are usually hired within days of arrival into Canada.
Temporary work permits
These are issued to individuals who have been selected by approved employers usually through provincial nominee programs. You will never see these opportunities advertized anywhere but the approved companies will ocassionally use authorized consultants like ME to source labour externally. Temporary work permits are issued to foreigners who hold certain professions and trades that some Canadian Provinces are unable to source locally.
Study Permit
These are permits that allow students to work as they study in Canada. Under the new "Canadian Experience Class" students who complete their diplomas and degrees in Canadian Community Colleges and Universities can obtain open work permits to work in Canada and will subsequently be eligible to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada without necessarily having to depart from Canada.
